It doesn't get more adventurous in Australia than this - unless you wrestle some crocodiles! Take a 40-minute scenic flight over the Great Barrier Reef, and watch the world's most beautiful reef glisten from the sky!

Then visit Kuranda by way of the thrilling Skyrail Rainforest Cableway up the mountain. Explore the village at your own pace, including the famous daily heritage markets, and enjoy free time at the wildlife parks, shops and food stalls. Then return to Cairns via the Kuranda Scenic Railway.

Itinerary:

  • 08:15: Pickup from your city accommodation or at a designated Cairns City Center location; or reach GSL Aviation Cairns on your own
  • 09:00: Depart on a 40-minute Reef Hopper flight
  • 11:30: Drop-off at Skyrail Smithfield Caravonica station for Skyrail check-in, or self-drive to the Skyrail Station and park your car there
  • 13:00: Skyrail one-way experience up to Kuranda (1.5 hours)
  • Free time in Kuranda village. Activities: Butterfly Sanctuary, Koala Gardens, Birds World (own cost)
  • Kuranda market and restaurants
  • 15:30: Return on Kuranda Scenic Rail (2.5 hours) - optional return on the 2:00 PM train depends on availability
  • 17:30: Arrive back at Cairns Central Station, or get off at Freshwater Station at 5:00 PM then use a taxi or Uber. If driving, park at Skyrail Station or GSL Aviation’s office
  • Make your own way back to your accommodation from Cairns Central train station (optional return transfer through Skyrail check-in, at extra cost if needed)
