How to get there *From Naples by car: take highway 45 towards Tirrenia/SR18 and proceed to the Pompeii Overst exit. Continue on the SS18 towards Tirrenia Inferiore and follow the signs to Piazza Esedra. The meeting point will be on your right * By train: Get off at the Pompeii Scavi Villa Dei Misteri stop. With the station behind you, go right and go straight for 350 meters. You will see the meeting point

When we arrived early, we were asked if we wanted to go on the next available tour. As this was not a small group tour we declined. The guide was very knowledgeable and provided a good introduction to Pompeii - you couldn't cover everything in two hours. We had an archaeologist for our tour of Herculanuem and this proved to be much better value and more insightful.
