The word genius is banded around pretty loosely these days. Benjamin Franklin; now there's a brainbox who earned the title. The Franklin Institute works in honor of 'America's first scientist', the Founding Father responsible for coming up with lightning rods, bifocals, and modern catheters.

A visit to Philadelphia's science museum is your ticket to edutainment. It's a laboratory of award-winning, brain-stimulating exhibitions, and family-fun activities!

The museum aims to create in you the same passion for science that left old Benjamin himself with a twinkle in his eye. You'll have plenty to dissect. Make like hemoglobin and flow through the institute's iconic Giant Heart exhibit. See the inner workings of the human cerebrum in the epic neon My Brain installation.

There are interactive halls dedicated to the science of space, sports, electricity, and more across three floors. Take a virtual-reality ride to the moon and race bikes with your friends across rugged virtual terrain.

The institute is also home to the second-oldest planetarium in the United States. Inside the Fels Planetarium, you can watch the stars perform their cosmic dance and learn about our place in the universe.

For an extra fee (to be paid on-site) you can also explore ever-changing special exhibitions, and catch a movie at the Tuttleman IMAX® Theater.
