Ancient Egypt: From Discovery to Display
Now on  - Dec 31, 2021

Ever wonder how the dusty relics of ancient times go from buried treasure to museum artifacts? This is your chance! Ancient Egypt: From Discovery to Display puts you in the shoes of an archaeologist and brushes away the layers of mystery surrounding this fascinating science, with a focus on the historical wonders of Ancient Egypt.

From excavation and conservation to storage and research, the exhibition traces the journey artifacts take on their way to museum display. More than 200 objects, many of which have never been on view before, are included throughout the three-part exhibition.

Eventually, these objects will become a part of the re-envisioned Ancient Egypt and Nubia Galleries, currently in planning stages as part of the Museum’s Building Transformation project – a very different kind of pyramid scheme!

Love ancient artifacts but aren't the tomb-raiding, boulder-escaping type? Lasso a ticket for Penn Museum, and uncover countless kingdoms' worth of cultural treasures from all corners of the world, without all those pesky booby traps!

From ancient Egypt to ancient China, Japan, Africa, the Middle East, Mesoamerica, Rome, Greece, North America, and beyond, you will find a cornucopia of remarkable cultural artifacts within.
