Take a journey from Montreuil to Hollywood with Georges Méliès.

A century of research from the CNC (National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image) has produced a museum experience to remember. This trip through the life and works of cinema's godfather features 300 rare artifacts, including machines, costumes, posters, drawings and models.

Find out how the pioneering techniques in Méliès' Le Voyage dans la Lune would go on to shape special effects in cinema for the next century. His cinematographic surrealism has influenced generations of auteurs, from the DIY-style of Wes Anderson, to the blockbusters of Guillermo del Toro, Peter Jackson, and Tim Burton.

You can also enjoy a completely new virtual reality experience created by Ubisoft. Join Georges Méliès' camera and take a cinematographic journey through time and space. You'll take down the moon, face a snow giant, and approach an infernal cauldron during this mind-bending VR trip.

Alongside his prolific special effects, learn more about the man himself. How did he work? How does his story fit into the history of performing arts and the invention of cinema? And how is his influence still felt in cinema today?

  • Show your smartphone ticket at the entrance, at the selected timeslot. Please respect the visit date and time indicated on your ticket (you may be refused entrance if you arrive more than 30 minutes later)
  • Depending on the number of people, you may be asked to wait a few minutes in the outside queues to ensure social distancing within the spaces
  • A detective game called Le Secret de Barbenfouillis is available at the front desk for an extra cost of 2€ (only available on-site). Suitable for ages 7 and up

Si vous aimez le cinéma je vous conseille d’y jeter un coup d’œil ! Vous vous plongerez dans l’univers de Méliès. Pour le coup il n’y avait pas foule ´le jour où j’y étais donc c’était d’autant...
