  • Experience a uniquely Japanese attraction – this futuristic indoor zoo presents animals as living art installations
  • Explore an open area where animals roam freely. No touching, but you'll get plenty of great close-up photos
  • See rare fish, penguins, a white tiger, hippos, and more, and explore seven zones featuring different species

Imagine a zoo from the future, and you might come close to NIFREL Interactive Aquazoo. This 'living' museum was designed to bring nature close to us, to appreciate it in the manner one would appreciate art.

Explore seven zones dotted with semi free-roaming animals that are brought to stark attention by lighting, music, and moving projections. It's an ethereal, confrontational, and outlandish experience that will have you feeling like you're in a Sci-Fi movie!

Come face to face with crocodiles sleeping to the hum of dream-like music, a glass-encased hippo family, and other wild animals living amongst moving art installations.

NIFREL has slipped under the radar of tourists, but the locals flock to it for a unique experience in the heart of Osaka.

Being an aquazoo, visitors can watch columns of rare, exotic fish, crabs, jellyfish, and octopus in a massive aquarium zone. See penguins and pelicans wandering in a strangely modernist habitat. In the open area, the animals roam freely without barriers. Watch ring-tailed lemurs come to grips with a bizarre environment while playfully inspecting their human visitors.

Each animal 'exhibit' is paired with art installations that range from light-show projections, contemporary habitats, and celestial music. Don't miss the white tiger prowling all over you in his barely-there glass enclosure. It's a wholly surreal experience here at NIFREL.
