Starting point

Piazzale Funivia Etna Sud, 95030, Catania

Take a cable car to the upper station at 2,500 meters (8,200 feet). If winds are strong, 4x4 buses will take you to the same altitude, where you can view the Summit craters and the Ionian coast.

From there, ride a 4x4 bus up to 2,900 meters (9,500 feet), the highest point allowed. Alpine/Volcanological guides will ensure your safety as you explore the landscape.

On clear days, enjoy views of eastern Sicily. If snow is expected, the journey will be made using special tracked vehicles (snowcat)
  • The cable car station “Funivia dell'Etna” is located at the Piazzale Funivia (on Etna) near the Rifugio Sapienza hotel. Operational hours: from 8:30 AM to 2 PM
  • Validate your QRcode at the Dedicated office, located at the entrance of the "Funivia dell'Etna" station.This access is reserved for online purchasers, allowing you to exchange your digital voucher for physical tickets.
  • In case of heavy snow, a Snowcat may be required for the route. You can request a partial refund on Tiqets and pay the difference onsite
  • Please note: If you are a resident of Sicily, you may be eligible for special discounts available only on site at the Funivia dell’Etna ticket office
