The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art opened on February 20, 1872. The original building was comprised of redbrick and stone, but has since been updated with a façade in the Beaux-Arts style. The building is located on 5th Avenue and 82nd Street right near Central Park.

As you enter, you’ll walk in to The Great Hall and from there you can make your way through the building’s 3 floors and numerous mezzanines. The entire building is roughly 2 million square feet and almost a ¼ mile long.

We did a last minute trip and had nothing planned or booked. We bought the tickets which did indeed mean we didn't need to queue saving valuable time during our brief trip.
