New York has a lot of vertical landmarks; the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, just to name a few. But the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is on another level – or at least its exhibits are. This military and maritime museum lets you step on board a former aircraft carrier – the USS Intrepid – to see submarines, planes, space shuttles, and more!
The Intrepid Museum celebrates the people and technological innovations that have shaped, and continue to shape, our world. It is an immersive and fun place where history and STEM are showcased through marvels – world’s first space shuttle, the world’s fastest commercial airliner, and a nuclear-weapons-carrying submarine.
Witness dozens of military aircraft, including a supersonic spy plane, all displayed in and around the historic landmark aircraft carrier, Intrepid.
CLOSURES
- June 4, 2025: Entire Flight Deck closes at 2:00pm, including Space Shuttle Pavilion and Apollo and Beyond VR experience
- June 5, 2025: Hangar 3 closed all day this includes The Exploreum interactive hall, including the G-force Simulator and 4D Experience . Entire Museum closes at 3:00pm last entry at 2pm
- June 6 - Jun 25, 2025: Space Shuttle Pavilion CLOSED for exhibition installation – this also includes Apollo and Beyond VR Experience
- Friday, June 20, 2025: The Exploreum interactive hall, including the G-force Simulator and 4D Experience, will close at 2:00pm
