  • See the real exhibits behind the Night at the Museum movies on a self-guided tour, and get to grips with urgent issues at the Climate Change Exhibit
  • Stand under the largest animal that ever lived, a 94-foot-long blue whale. This fiberglass model suspended from the ceiling is so life-like it even has a belly button!

Go on an expedition to a Pacific Island, to the deep-sea floor, back to the age of the dinosaurs, or out to the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy – all without leaving New York! Book your American Museum of Natural History tickets in advance and open up a world of discovery.

Remember, at checkout you can choose entry with one or all of the AMNH special exhibitions included in your ticket. You'll be able to choose from the latest special exhibits on arrival!

It's one of the largest museums on Earth and is filled with the plants, animals and minerals that make up our planet (and solar system, and galaxy).

If you want to start big, flash your AMNH tickets and go to the Rose Center for Earth and Space. It explores the 13-billion-year history of the universe and cosmic evolution.

Speaking of water: The Milstein Hall of Ocean Life shows you the diversity of the life aquatic including a life-size model of the enormous blue whale; just its heart is the size of a VW Beetle!

Elsewhere, get Jurassic at the most important collection of dinosaur fossils in the world, including the mighty T. rex, one of the most fearsome dinosaurs to ever roam the Earth. You thought the T. rex was big? Wait until you see the enormous, snaking Titanosaur on the fourth floor.

Your American Natural History Museum tickets open up a fascinating world of scientific and historical exploration!

Insider tip

The museum is huge, so make sure to get to there in good time – you need a few hours to explore. Once it comes to closing time the security will march you out of the exhibits quicker than you can say Micropachycephalosaurus.

  • For capacity management reasons, all visitors are required to book a timeslot on the museum's official website (afterwards, you will receive a confirmation email that contains your date and time of entry)
  • Once through the security check, present your Tiqets confirmation email, smartphone voucher and a valid ID
  • Guests do not have to pay any additional costs after check-out

Please note:

  • Parking: Enter at 81st Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. Rates: Up to 1 hour $26, up to 2 hours $29, 2-5 hours $36, max to close $51 (subject to change)
  • Download the Explorer app (iOS or Android) for your self-guided experience
  • Photography for personal use is allowed with hand-held cameras. No selfie sticks. No flash photography in the Space Theater and the LeFrak Theater
  • Masks are strongly recommended, but no longer required, for visitors ages 2 and up.
