Following the atrocities of the Spanish Civil War and WWII, the second avant-garde began to question the very foundations that art had been built on. Artists pushed the boundaries of the past with their transgression against traditional formats and cultural categories.

The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya's latest exhibit, Intrusive Dialogues, presents post-war art and works from the second avant-garde against the backdrop of the museum's historical collections with the goal of enriching the interpretation of these pieces.

Intrusive Dialogues brings together 19 avant-garde works – on loan from the Fundació Suñol – and the museum's historical collection to create a conversation through contrast and suggestive relationships.
