To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the MAXXI museum, a sizeable new display of Italian contemporary art from masters in the museum's own collection, as well as newer artists not yet part of it, will showcase the vitality and diversity of artistic research in Italy today, and highlight some of the lesser-known innovators working on the edge of artistic innovation in Italy.

The exhibition takes place within a sequence of immersive gallery environments that speak to the thematic elements within the artworks themselves, reflecting the unique relationship with space that much 21st-century Italian art is known for. The exhibition will provide a reference point for understanding Italian contemporary art, and provides a platform for new artists to continue innovating within the thriving tradition.
