Admission to Kawai Kanjiro's House and the permanent exhibition
  • Step inside the home that Kawai helped to design, which served as his studio from 1938 until his death in 1966
  • See fine examples of his ceramic work, wood sculptures, and bronze statues that sit in unison with the home
  • Feel the beauty that Kawai sought to create in everyday life, both in his home and in his work

Unassuming inside and out – yet with beauty in its simplicity – the home of Kawai Kanjiro will give you deeper insight into the craft of the ceramics expert, who was hugely influential in the history of Japanese pottery.

Walking through the house, you'll see a blend of Japanese and Western influences in the furniture. In the back of the home, there's the chance to see the kiln and tools used by the artisan himself.
