Overview

Highlights

  • See the biggest Van Eyck exhibition ever displayed including rare masterpieces flown in from overseas
  • Marvel at the Ghent Altarpiece which will be displayed outside of St Bavo's Cathedral for the first time
  • Browse 100 works from Van Eyck and other image-makers from the Late Medieval Period up to the Early Renaissance

Description

An exhibition of this scale doesn't happen often. The largest collection of Van Eyck's work has been gathered in one place, including pieces on loan from across the globe and eight panels from the infamous Ghent Altarpiece – the most stolen artwork ever. It's the first time it's being exhibited to the public.

The Flemish master's attention to realism fundamentally changed the West's approach to art. See paintings from the late Middle Ages and delve into the life and times of Van Eyck.
