Good
As it turned out, we did not need to buy tickets in advance because there was no queue at all. The house was well worth seeing and the audio-guide was good.

Gaudí's El Capricho: Guided Visit

About: Gaudí's El Capricho

Built when he was just 31 years old, Gaudí's El Capricho is one of the early works of Catalonia's iconic architect and is one of the only buildings designed by Gaudí that is not located in Catalonia. Instead, this beautiful summer house is located in pastoral Cantabria, in northern Spain.

The building is unmistakably Gaudí, but also shows clear Orientalist and Mudéjar influences, often seen in his early career. The house features an eye-catching Persian air minaret with a bold green, red, and gold color scheme. It is emblazoned with sparkling sunflower mosaics – a theme that continues around the house's entire facade.

If you're a Gaudí fan in Cantabria, make sure you don't miss this cultural gem!

El Soplao Cave is a wonderland of speleology, with displays of stalactites, stalagmites, eccentrics, dog-tooth crystals, and more. Discovered at the beginning of the 20th century, the cavern is named after the blowing air that occurs when a tunnel with less oxygen perforates another. In addition to its geological value, the cave and its surroundings are home to an exceptional heritage of industrial mining archaeology, with more than 20 km of galleries.

Parque de Cabarceno
The Cabárceno Nature Park isn't your conventional zoo or natural park. Man has helped shape its beauty from a primitive karst landscape that was once a 750 hectare open-pit mining operation. In the Cabárceno Nature Park, animals get to live in the most natural environment possible. Except for feeding, the rest of their lives are marked by almost total freedom and instinct. Fights take place during mating season for the control of females, survival instincts remain intact, and the rest of their senses remain as wild as in their natural habitat.

The Chillida Leku Museum is a unique art museum 10 minutes outside of San Sebastian. The museum consists first and foremost of the immense sculpture garden, where the monumental works of Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida are displayed. Designed as a fusion between art and nature, the sculptures are integrated into the landscape as if they had always been part of it. The museum also features the Caserío Zabalaga, a restored 16th-century farmhouse where Chillida's smaller-scale works, and works too fragile to be housed outside, are displayed in rotating temporary exhibitions.
