Medici Chapels

The Medici Chapels were built by and for the Medici family, who bankrolled much of the Renaissance and ruled the Florentine Republic for generations. These two chapels belong to the Basilica of San Lorenzo - a church that dates back to the 4th century AD.

In addition to being the burial place for 49 members of the Medici clan, these chapels contain three of Michelangelo's most beautiful sculptures.

I’ve always wanted to see the Medici chapels but it’s very hard to get tickets. Buying them through Tiqets.com was very easy and with limited time in Florence was well worth it. Michelangelo’s sculptures of Night and Day along with Dusk and Dawn are held here and are amazing.

<la Capella di <<michelangelo is a marvel of clarity, balance, optmismo, e trust in a humanisitic future. VER<<<y modern for its day. The Capella dei <<principi is a monument to monarchical egoism.
