Salvador Dalí's mark on Barcelona is impossible to miss, but there are more Surrealist wonders to admire outside of the city. This day-long excursion transports your small group through the sun-soaked Catalan countryside to places significant in the life of the artist dubbed Avida Dollars.
Begin in Figueres, Dalí's birthplace. Your English-speaking guide will fill you in on the artist's formative years as you walk the streets and see the Surrealist's gift to the city: the Dalí Theatre-Museum.
From there, you'll follow the art trail to the paradisaical village of Cadaqués, a gem on the Costa Brava. Marvel at the pearly white houses, hugged by rugged hills and the teal-blue Mediterranean.
It's around a mile from Cadaqués that you'll find Portlligat, Dalí's home for around 40 years. Explore the labyrinthine Dalí House-Museum where he created some of his most iconic works, and tour the rooms in which he and his muse, Gala, lived.
