About: Fado na Baixa
In a privileged location, on a street overlooking the Douro River and the historic area of Ribeira, Fado na Baixa ocuppies the first floors of a charming 18th-century building and welcomes you in a sober, cosy and intimate atmosphere, right in the heart of Oporto.
The live performances of Lisbon and Coimbra Fado are taken to the stage on the ground floor of the venue, in a room properly licensed by the IGAC for live concerts. The thoughtful layout, technical features and room’s decor ensure harmonious access to all seats, even for people with reduced mobility, providing all the conditions for a premium experience.
Those who visit us can also explore the first floor, where you can find Fado related articles, which are the result of a careful selection made by our musicians, fadistas and staff.
The Cathedral of Porto is a Romanesque-Gothic building dating from the 12th and 13th centuries. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the Cathedral went through major renovations that resulted in Baroque features, adding to the diversity of styles in the construction. Inside, it still retains the appearance of a fortress-church, with battlements. The beautiful rose window form the 12th century and the loggia or side porch designed by Nicolau Nasoni in the 18th century, facing the city, are two of the most beautiful features of the Sé.
