This monolithic somma-stratovolcano is still considered one of the world's most dangerous volcanoes – if she blows again, she'll affect almost 3,000,000 people living nearby. But don't worry, she hasn't so much as burped since 1944.

  • At the summit, show your smartphone voucher at the ticket desk of Rifugio Imbò at Strada Matrone, as indicated on the maps, for a paper ticket. You can then join the tour in your preferred language

  • Tickets are sold exclusively online, make sure to get your own to access the venue

How to reach:

  • By bus: from Naples central station Piazza Garibaldi take the Naples-Vesuvius line of the EAVBU near the Terminus hotel and get off at the Quota 1000 stop. Reach the ticket office at the Imbò refuge by following the signs. Check info here.
  • By car: driving along the A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria highway take the Ercolano exit and follow the signs for Vesuvius National Park, first via Cupa Monti then via Vesuvius, drive along the road for about 8 km until you reach the ticket office at the Imbò refuge on the left, a few meters before the end of the driveway.

If you visit Pompeii then you have to hike up Mt Vesuvius! It’s truly an experience. We had booked several excursions with tiqets, and this was my favorite. The climb is steep but well worth it...

Print your tickets out ahead of time. Once we got off the EAV bus, it was only a minute to get to the entrance and scan the ticket. Very smooth and easy this way.
