  • Take a trip back to the 11th century and find out how Dover Castle earned its nickname, The Key to England
  • Go underground and get a sense of wartime England in a hospital that treated injured servicemen during WWII
  • Relive the dramatic days of Dunkirk and see how rescue operations were orchestrated from Dover Castle

Dating back to the days of the Norman Conquest, Dover Castle has served as an essential part of England's defences for nearly 1,000 years. From medieval kings to wartime admirals, the castle is ripe with British history.

Make sure you climb the Great Tower, built by Henry II, where lavish tapestries and furniture have been painstakingly recreated to give you an idea of court life in the Middle Ages.

Amid the white cliffs, you'll be able to get a glimpse of the experiences of civilians and commanders during World War II. A range of special effects and documentary recordings will let you relive the events of May 1940, when Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay orchestrated the rescue of 338,000 troops from Dunkirk during Operation Dynamo.

If you're visiting during summer, you can enjoy a taste of modern military might and see the only working British 3-inch gun in the world being fired. Looking to travel even further back in time? On selected days, the tower is brought to life by costumed interpreters, recreating the court of King Henry II.

Not great tbh couldn't go in the underground tour as full up they kept telling us to come back for the next one so we did and it was full every time, we also was told there was Easter events and egg hunts on for the kids but we didn't see anything no one mentioned it either. Wouldn't pay that amount to go again
