Description

Three French castles, each uniquely stunning, two wine tastings, and a delicious lunch – all amidst the beautiful scenery of the Loire Valley. This day trip from Paris is perfect for culture vultures, as it includes a guided commentary of all three castles. It's history meets mystery, with a splash of French wine.

Your tour begins in central Paris, where you'll board an air-conditioned coach and head towards Château de Chambord, the largest castle in the valley. If you think it has a 'Disney' vibe, you're right. It's thought to have been the inspiration for Beauty and the Beast. Learn about the king who used it as a hunting lodge and explore by yourself. You can even spot wild deer on the grounds from the roof!

Hop back on the bus and head to the charming, 15th-century Château de Nitray, where you'll be wined and dined like royalty. Sip your way through a delectable range of reds, whites, and dessert wines. There's an unlimited supply of wine with your three-course lunch (hic!)

After coffee and dessert, check out the Château de Nitray's pigeon house and explore a while before getting back on the bus! From here it's on to the so-called 'Ladies’ Château', Château de Chenonceau. This elegant 16th-century castle was designed and owned solely by women. It has all the storybook trimmings, from painted wooden doors and a smooth stone exterior to stone carvings, huge tapestries, and beautiful period furniture.

Downstairs, you'll see the impressive vaulted kitchens and pantry, a butcher's room and the staff dining room. There is even a landing platform for the servants to bring supplies up the river! These women really thought of everything!

Explore the gardens and the rest of the castle, or if you haven't had enough wine yet, spend your free time indulging in a second wine tasting (three wines from the château's vineyard) led by your guide in the Cave des Dômes. This is a vaulted cellar full of wine barrels, aka, every wine-lover's dream room!
