De Sainte Chapelle bleek pas om 14.00 u toegankelijk te zijn wegens opruimwerkzaamheden. Dit was vooraf niet bekendgemaakt. Heel vervelend!

About: Château de Vincennes

At various times in its history, the Château de Vincennes has been a royal residence, a porcelain factory, a prison and a burial site. Its location was designed to allow the monarchy to keep a watchful eye over Paris.

Now, with a metro stop named after it, it's a part of the French capital. Highlights include the highest fortified tower in Europe and the beautiful Gothic Sainte-Chapelle de Vincennes.

The Basilique Cathédrale de Saint-Denis is the world's first Gothic cathedral, completed in the 13th century. It's the final resting place for French royalty and the burial place of 43 kings, 32 queens and 10 servants to the monarchy.

Formerly known as the Bois de Vincennes Zoological Park, the 14.5-hectare Paris Zoological Park recently underwent two years of refurbishment works, giving this famous zoological park major natural environmental features, and plenty of room for the animals to roam. The animal habitats have been grouped five 'biozones', and the zoo has six restaurants and a 4,000 m2 tropical rainforest-filled greenhouse. It's visible from quite far away, thanks to the Big Rock, a 65m-tall artificial mini-mountain, which is an iconic symbol of the Paris Zoological Park.
