We had a really beautiful day in Chantilly. It’s really easy to get there from Gare du Nord, Paris. We spent some time walking through the lovely town of Chantilly. There is a market in the central square on Saturdays. We also had a walk around the back of the race course and in the forest. The stables were an unexpected surprise. It is a wonderful working stable and museum. Then we walked the beautiful gardens of the chateau and had lunch at the restaurant near the hamlet. It’s a little over-priced but the food is good. Make sure you leave room for some dessert....with Chantilly cream of course. Wow... its really good! The chateau is a gem. It’s beautifully maintained with some real treasures. The Reading Room/Library is wonderful...a set from a period mystery movie. If you have time for dinner in the town, there are plenty of really nice looking restaurants but don’t eat too late as the last train to Paris is around 9:30. Make sure you catch the express...it’s so quick.
