  • Step into a magical palace surrounded by an idyllic forest and dive into half a millennium of French history
  • Witness amazing architecture built for King François I, with design elements attributed to Leonardo da Vinci
  • Browse over 4,500 artworks in the refurbished apartments and don't miss climbing the double-spiral staircase

So magnificent and unique is Château de Chambord that it's considered the architectural equivalent of the Mona Lisa. Step into the symbolic, aesthetic, and spiritual enigma that is this 16th-century retreat built for François I, with design elements attributed to Leonardo da Vinci.

Surrounded by a fairy tale forest, Château de Chambord is a wonderland packed with half a millennium of French history and unique architectural details like a double-spiral staircase!

Welcome to the largest and most majestic château in the Loire Valley. This landmark building is an architectural triumph that remains a symbol of the French Renaissance in Europe, and throughout the world.

In the 16th century, the king delighted in inviting his circle to Château de Chambord, and with a visit, you can understand why – with more than 400 rooms, 77 staircases, 282 fireplaces, and over 200 chimneys, we'd go out on a limb to say that perhaps modesty hadn't been invented yet.

The pièce de résistance has to be the impressive double-spiral staircase which is, with some doubt, accredited to Leonardo da Vinci. Ascend this ancient staircase to see chimneys and sculptures on the terraces, and witness the scenic beauty of the French gardens.

There's more to be explored outside. Watch a performance that brings the Renaissance back to life, starring horses, birds of prey, and jousting acts. Rent a boat to row on the château's lake, or take a walking trail to see the diverse fauna and flora in the surrounding forest. It's a dream of a day, fit for a king.

Present your smartphone ticket at the castle entrance.
