Centre Pompidou FAQs

With its colorful exterior, you can't miss the Centre Pompidou when you are out and about in Paris.

Ditch the foot traffic and hit the subway – take metro lines 1, 4, 7, 11, and 14 and alight at Rambuteau, Hôtel de Ville or Châtelet.

Parking spaces are available for a fee, but can be booked in advance.

With a food scene like Paris, you can rely on some delicious dining options located inside the Centre Pompidou.

The prestigious Restaurant Georges serves cocktails and dinner with incredible views from the top of the museum, overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Reservations are recommended.

If you are looking for something more casual in between exhibits, head to Café le Central, a tasty snack bar – no reservations required.

Architect Renzo Piano designed the famous ‘inside out’ museum, featuring air vents and colorful pipes on the exterior and transparent glass walls. When it was first built in 1977, the exterior of the building was considered controversial.

Decades later, Centre Pompidou's exterior is considered a pioneer in design and architecture. Additionally, visitors can get beautiful views from the top of the museum of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Sacré-Coeur Basilica.

Everything is served perfectly. Don’t miss the 6 floor even if you don’t like “contemporary art” or if you are a child. If you couldn’t find even one interesting work, tell me.

Easy to get the tickets through the App. The museum itself was marvellous. I was in the first intake of the day, 11:00am and not crowded at all.

About: Centre Pompidou

Europe's largest collection of modern and contemporary art (oh yes, there is a difference!) is housed in a building that was deemed to be architecturally daring in the 20th century. The building features plumbing and piping on the outside and Picasso and Pollock on the inside. And to top it all off, from the rooftop you'll find gorgeous views of Paris and the Eiffel Tower.

The Centre Pompidou is one of Paris's 'Big Three' museums – the other two being the Louvre and Musée d'Orsay. The Louvre holds art and artifacts from up until 1848. The Musée d'Orsay contains the world's greatest collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, all produced between the years 1848-1914. The Centre Pompidou holds 20th and 21st-century works (created after 1914). Altogether, the three museums house a complete timeline of Western art history.
