This Baroque water palace was built upon the remains of an old hunting lodge between 1677 and 1690, and now houses one of the finest collections of decorative arts in Europe! The palace is a stunning example of Baroque design, painstakingly restored to its original condition. Visit to explore its dramatic history and discover the treasures inside!

Step inside this historic German palace and marvel at the decadent design of a building that was initially designed to be a hunting lodge(!). It was rebuilt and enlarged by Frederick I of Prussia, whose family lived there for many years.

Now the palace is home to countless treasures from the Kunstgewerbemuseum and charts the history of the decorative arts through 16th to the 18th centuries. Special attention is paid to the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods in a magnificent permanent collection spread across three floors.

Highlights include the building's jaw-dropping gateway, chapel, and conservation studio, as well as the original Baroque plasterwork visible in almost every room. Throw in a charming English-style garden and you have a delightful day out!
