Description

Casa Amatller was the home of famed chocolatier, Antoni Amatller Costa (1851-1910) and is one of Barcelona's most mind-boggling buildings. Spot the dragons, knights, and other mythical characters on the facade, and explore one of architect Cadafalch's most incredible works. Best of all, you'll get to sample the legendary chocolate at the end!

Casa Amatller was remodeled by Puig i Cadafalch, one of the most famous architects from Gaudí's time. You can almost see inside his twisted mind when you look at the facade - a mind-bending mishmash of colorful tiles!

Walk around with your audio guide and see the original furniture used by the chocolatier Antoni Amatller Costa (1851-1910) and his family. This man was a bit of an early Willy Wonka – he traveled Europe visiting chocolate factories, and inherited the family business from his father and uncle before turning 25.

There might not be any Oompa Loompas around but you will see the majestic bedroom doors featuring sculptural allegories, the dressing rooms and bathrooms, the dining room, music room and the scullery.

Appetites thoroughly whetted, you can finally taste Amatller's famous confectionary, enjoying a mouthwatering cup of hot chocolate at the end of your visit.

Just great. From the moment you ascend the stairway you are greeted by the most marvellous detailing on the walls and ceiling as ornate as it is aesthetically pleasing.
This visit ends with a morsel of wonderful chocolate and a drink which, like the visit, and the helpful and aimable staff leave a very pleasant taste in your mouth.
Casa Amatller, a wonderful experience indeed.Thank you Tiquets, for rearranging our visit when we had to change the day at such short notice. Well done !

I absolutely loved the little tour of Casa Amatller.
Though the bigger and more touristy Casa Battlo is right next door, if you are looking for something less noisy yet soaked in history, Casa Amattler should be on your list.
The guides were pretty knowledgeable. And, the hot chocolate toward the end just capped it off for me.

(audio)Guided visit was very interesting, and the place is beautiful, but we expected tour to be a bit longer. Chocolate was tasty but nothing exceptional.

It was so interesting. We could enter in the building with tour guide, and chocolate tasting was much delicious. And we bought nice chocolates as a souvenir in the shop that belong to Casa Amatller.

All impressive especially the Roman Glass collection.

Usually this building is forgotten as it is shadowed by its superstar next door neighbor Casa Batlló, but I regret not having visited this jewel before. Absolutely necessary to visit this masterpiece of architecture and interior design, it makes a perfect companion to the visit of Casa batllo too.
