Tickets for Water Colors Cruise - Amsterdam Light Festival
A great way to enjoy the city by night
- See the spectacular sculptures of the Amsterdam Light Festival from an angle you won't see on a walking tour
- Stay snuggly and warm in the comfort of a heated Water Colors Cruise boat, with a Dutch or English audio guide to explain the sights
- From 1 December to 22 January get a rare and magical view of Amsterdam. It happens but once a year, for just 55 days
From 1 December until 22 January, experience Amsterdam in a different light. Literally. This year, The Amsterdam Light Festival's theme is 'A View on Amsterdam', and that's exactly what you'll get from the heated bliss of a special canal boat on this tour: the very best view of Amsterdam. On for a limited time only.
The Amsterdam Light Festival consists of over 40 sculptures covered in twinkling lights, dotted throughout the city. They'll be illuminating the waterfront from 1 December to 22 January, turning the city into a flickering wonderland. This is one of the best times to take a canal boat tour of Amsterdam.
The Water Colors Cruise is full of magical atmosphere. As you float around the storybook canals, the reflections of these custom artworks - all created by select international artists - turn the canals of Amsterdam into dancing nighttime rainbows.
Listen to your audio guide in Dutch or English as you snuggle up and take in the views of the art and the city.
After your cruise, explore the events, performances, and workshops that create the magic of the Amsterdam Light Festival. Light up your life with one of the best things to do in Amsterdam this winter!

Yes, it might be a bit cold, but you'll enjoy the cruise a lot more if you sit in the back, where the boat is partially open. Just make sure to bring a good winter coat, a pair of gloves and a scarf.
Waiting to get into the boat (30+ minutes) was less than wonderful despite a DJ who did what he could to make the time go by more quickly. Towards the end of the trip we also noticed that there was a 'traffic jam of boats' so that the final part of the journey went slowly. Many of the children on board found this 'difficult'. Having said that, I enjoyed the trip enormously and loved seeing the lights. I would have given this trip a five star if I hadn't had to wait in line so long. I guess no one much likes that and I am no exception. I have recommended the trip to others and included the info about waiting. That way, it is not an unpleasant surprise...
