Science Center NEMO

NEMO Science Museum is a science center in Amsterdam, located at the Oosterdok. It was built on top of the IJ-tunnel that connects the center of Amsterdam with the north of the city. The striking building, designed by Italian architect and engineer, Renzo Piano, opened its doors in 1997. Some say the shape of the building mimics the appearance of a large boat, but others suggest that it's actually a reflection of the tunnel it was built upon.

NEMO Science Museum
Lots of fun... both of my boys enjoyed the time here. Missed Elektra - the 30+ foot robot who used to be here.

Got in with no waiting as I bought my ticket online. The museum is insanely rich in content and very interesting to visit. The only negative aspect were the numerous children running around, playing and screaming.

Go in the morning! It is less busy at that time. Just after lunchtime, the place was packed. Lucky for us we got to enjoy the morning without waiting in line for the interactive exhibits. Enjoyed our lunch on the roof deck with great views of the city.

NEMO Science Museum
Amazing science museum with lots of hands on experiments. Very interesting for kids and adults. Leave yourself plenty of time- we spent 4 and a half hours there and didn’t quite finish everything before closing.
