Science Center NEMO

NEMO Science Museum is a science center in Amsterdam, located at the Oosterdok. It was built on top of the IJ-tunnel that connects the center of Amsterdam with the north of the city. The striking building, designed by Italian architect and engineer, Renzo Piano, opened its doors in 1997. Some say the shape of the building mimics the appearance of a large boat, but others suggest that it's actually a reflection of the tunnel it was built upon.

NEMO Science Museum
Amazing science museum with lots of hands on experiments. Very interesting for kids and adults. Leave yourself plenty of time- we spent 4 and a half hours there and didn’t quite finish everything before closing.

NEMO Science Museum
We had a great day at NEMO! With three children, aged 11, 14 and 15 and two elderly relatives, it's amazing that everyone found things of interest to explore. We were a bit worried that the museum would be over-run with little kids, but luckily it wasn't too busy in February. An added plus was the roof top restaurant with it's great views and tasty, healthy food. Booking online with Tiqets was straightforward.
