See the home of the Cromhouts, a powerful family in the Amsterdam's Golden Age. Explore the Biblical Museum, check out the compact urban garden, and see the oldest kitchen in the Netherlands! A trip back in time!

Go back to the Golden Age with a trip to this chic canal house on the Herengracht, in the heart of Amsterdam. The former residence of the wealthy Cromhout family is known as the little palace on the canal.

On the top floor you'll find the Biblical Museum, where prints, rare artifacts, and detailed models all illustrate stories from the 'Good Book'.

The rest of the house has been frozen in time; the table in the dining room is set for a lavish celebration and the kitchen, where family servants cooked for two centuries, has been so well-preserved that it's now known as the oldest kitchen in the Netherlands!

The compact urban garden continues the biblical theme, decorated with plants and trees found in the scriptures. No matter your theological inclinations, it's a perfectly peaceful escape from city life.

Insider tip

The unassuming Head of Christ in the Biblical Museum has been definitively attributed to Rembrandt's studio (though it's not known how much the master himself contributed to the piece).
