Upgrade your experience

Add a little extra in the checkout to make the most of your visit

Learn more about the Rijksmuseum's many treasures with a special multimedia guide. Enjoy videos and images that give you more insight into the secrets and stories of some of the museum's top artworks, as well as several timed and themed tours of the world-famous collection.

  • Get up close to 8,000 objects across 80 galleries, including renowned Dutch masterpieces like The Night Watch by Rembrandt and The Milkmaid by Vermeer
  • One of the most visited museums in the Netherlands, the Rijksmuseum can have lengthy ticket lines – luckily the handy Rijksmuseum tickets get you in via the Fast Lane!
  • It's not just paintings – the museum also has sculptures, an exhibition of clothing and weapons, and one of the finest libraries you'll ever see

Flash your Rijksmuseum tickets and get up close to some of the world's most famous paintings by the likes of Van Gogh, Vermeer, and, of course, Rembrandt – including the Night Watch. The Rijksmuseum collection spans over 800 years of art history in a beautifully restored building. Located smack-dab in the heart of Amsterdam's Museumplein, the Rijks is an Amsterdam must-see.

The national museum of the Netherlands underwent a ten-year renovation between 2003 and 2013. It's come out looking great – airy, bright and inviting. Plus, it's filled with more paintings and objets d'art than you can possibly absorb in an afternoon's ramble. Still, it's fun to give it a try.

The highlight is Rembrandt's Night Watch, one of the museum's most famous (and largest!) paintings. Vermeer's The Milkmaid is another classic to be viewed here, and there are many other lesser-known, but equally intriguing works of art that provide a window into life in another time.

Another spectacular – though underrated – section of the museum is the collection of weapons and ship models, with its exotic, ornate and even combat-used weapons.

These Rijksmuseum tickets do not include the excellent multimedia tour, but download the app straight to your smartphone and you'll have it all ready for your visit. Check it out on the App Store or Google Play!

  • Two entrances of the museum are in the arcade that runs under the building, which is known as The Passage. This is a public road open to cyclists and pedestrians but not to cars. When you enter The Passage from the Museumplein side, you will find the entrances on your left. One has stairs and one has a lift. If you have a wheelchair, rollator, walking stick or pram, security staff will direct you to the lifts. The staircase has twenty steps, with a landing after the thirteenth step. Both the stairs and the lift take you to the Atrium. The Atrium is open daily from 09:00h until 18:00h. I spent 4 and a half hours in this beautiful Museum to admire the collection of the 16th/17th and then I continued with the Italian collection and the temporary collection from the Boymans Muséum
