The weather may be cooling down in this lovely little country, but that doesn\u2019t mean there aren\u2019t plenty of things to do in the Netherlands in September. So, make sure you celebrate the return of culture in the Netherlands in style with these suggestions of what to do in the Netherlands in September. 1. Reawaken your cultural spirit with the Netherlands Awakens Week: 14 – 20 September<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Netherlands isn\u2019t exactly known for its beaches, but any local will know that a little sunshine means a trip to some sandy surrounds. If you\u2019re in the Netherlands in September, take advantage of any sunshine by visiting Scheveningen, Zandvoort, Zeeland or Texel, to name just a few beachy locations in the Netherlands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Visit the largest art museum in the Netherlands<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Rijksmuseum is open again and it has a new exhibition for you to feast your eyes upon. Head on over to this colossal art museum to appreciate The Night Watch and take in the new exhibition: Highlights of Italian Drawing <\/em>which features works by great Italian masters such as Raphael, Michelangelo, Carracci, Barocci, Canaletto, Tiepolo and Piranesi. There are also some new displays in the Asian pavilion and a music parade in the special collections section. 

Coming or going to the Netherlands in September?<\/strong> If you\u2019re landing at or taking off from Schiphol Airport, you\u2019ll be pleased (and probably quite surprised) to find out that you can visit a part of the Rijksmuseum for free at the airport! Rijksmuseum Schiphol is open 24 hours a day to all passengers and is located between Lounge 2 and 3, past security at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Right now you can enjoy a Dutch masterpieces exhibition in this special outpost of the Rijksmuseum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Feast your senses at an outdoor market <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While many indoor events have been cancelled for the remainder of the year, there are still a number of outdoor events going on. Take advantage of one of the many outdoor markets hosted in the Netherlands during the month of September: from Amsterdam\u2019s Pure Markt (hosted on 20 September at Amsterdamse Bos and 27 September at Park Frankendael) to the Haagse Markt in the Hague (open every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) to Haarlem\u2019s antique and arts market (hosted on 21 September), there\u2019s a market for everyone! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
