So why is it possible to board a capsule labeled #33? The number 13 was skipped due to the fear of superstitious guests refusing to enter and risking bad luck.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\" id=\"2-its-a-great-place-to-spot-celebrities\">2. Lily Allen, Angelina Jolie, and David Blaine have also been spotted in or around the VIP capsules. You can visit replicas <em>inspired <\/em>by the London Eye in cities including (but not limited to) Las Vegas, Seattle and Atlanta. Dubai wants a piece of the pie and will inaugurate the record-breaking Ain Dubai in 2020 (<em>ain <\/em>is Arabic for eye, btw). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">We do have to mention that the London Eye had a predecessor though \u2013 the &#8216;Great Wheel&#8217; of London, which opened in 1895 and was demolished in 1907.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\" id=\"4-its-like-really-big\">4. For comparison, the average human eye measures in at a feeble 24 mm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The average wombat, meanwhile, is around 1 meter in length, which means the London Eye is as tall as 135 wombats standing on top of each other&#8217;s shoulders. Use this information wisely.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\" id=\"5-its-not-actually-a-ferris-wheel\">5. It&#8217;s not actually a Ferris wheel<\/h2>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/tiqets-cdn\/wordpress\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shutterstock_443377675-1.jpg\" alt=\"The London Eye is more than just a ferris wheel. \" class=\"wp-image-8991\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">What starts with &#8216;c&#8217; and rhymes with &#8216;xantilevered observation wheel&#8217;?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Technically it&#8217;s considered a &#8216;cantilevered observation wheel&#8217;, not a Ferris wheel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The London Eye is supported by an A-frame on one side, and its carriages offer an unobstructed 360\u00b0 view of the surrounding area. It&#8217;s also substantially larger than a typical Ferris wheel, as mentioned above. Keen observers will also note that it&#8217;s not actually an eye, due to its inability to process visual information. The London Cantilevered Observation Wheel doesn&#8217;t really have the same ring to it, though.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\" id=\"with-all-of-this-in-mind-taking-a-ride-in-one-of-the-capsules-really-is-a-pretty-spectacular-experience-it-might-only-just-be-of-legal-drinking-age-but-the-london-eye-has-firmly-established-itself-as\"><br>With all of this in mind, taking a ride in one of the capsules really is a pretty spectacular experience. It might only just be of legal drinking age, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiqets.com\/en\/london-attractions-c67458\/tickets-for-lastminute-com-london-eye-fast-track-p975910\/?partner=tiqetsblog&amp;tq_campaign=LondonEye\">London Eye<\/a> has firmly established itself as an international icon, emblematic of the city.
